Long shelf life meals for travel, trekking and relief work
When there is no kitchen, no fridge or no time, a retort meal is still a proper hot dish. It is cooked, sealed and safe at room temperature, so it works wherever ordinary food cannot go.
Use case 1: travel and road trips
Highway food is not always clean, cheap or to your taste. Pack a few pouches in the car or bag.
- Heat in hot water at a hotel room, a guest house or a campsite.
- Eat a home-style meal on a long train ride or a late arrival.
- Pouches are flat and light, so they take little space.
Use case 2: trekking and camping
On a trail every gram counts. A pouch carries a full gravy dish without a tin's weight, and you can warm it on a small stove or in a pot of water.
- Carry the pouch with rice or chapati from a packet.
- Pack out the empty pouch, since it is light and flat.
Use case 3: emergency kits at home and work
Floods, storms and power cuts are a fact of life in Kerala. A shelf of retort meals gives a household a few ready meals when the fridge is off and the market is closed.
- Keep a week's worth in a dry cupboard.
- Check the date on the pack once a season and rotate stock.
Use case 4: relief agencies and institutions
NGOs, camps and community kitchens need food that stores easily and serves fast. Retort meals can be stocked in advance and issued without a kitchen, and we can produce them in bulk. Talk to us about quantities and packaging.
What makes it safe?
The food is sterilised after it is sealed, inside the pouch. As long as the pouch is intact and within its date, the food stays safe at room temperature. Discard any pouch that is swollen, leaking or past its date.
